Favorites & Recently Viewed side bar

    Hi All

This request is a bit tricky as I love the favorites & recently viewed feature.

I am using a Catalogue View and moving to a form by clicking the Caption of a catalogue item and passing a search field value.
The issue is when using them on a larger DB the unique search key is probably going to be a UID or unique number.
In this picture below the Member ID is used initially but how can we use it as either a favorite or recent when it is just a number and gives no indication who it may be?

    Name: FavoritesRecent.jpg
Views: 134
Size: 34.5 KB

If I swap it to LAST NAME the issue becomes finding the right SMITH or in this case "Bell". As there is 5 last names using "Bell" it found the 1st record, not the record we clicked.

Is it possible to enhance Favorites & Recents to have an alternative display field(s) or expression?
Wanted to discuss here in case this is already possible.
    Thanks Paul.

    Hi Paul,

Did you know that you can use a search panel with webviews which a catalogue view is based on?

    See doc (search panel)

    Hi Paul,

The favorites and recents are based on the search key for the section. There is no way to display an alternate value.

    Thanks Barry for confirming.
So it has not been requested before?
If we use a unqiue key to move from say a Catalogue View to Grid Form, then the "Recents" will just have a bunch of senseless keys...

As I said great tool, I thought in your previous post you were suggesting writing my own RSP component that could interact with "Recents" & "Favorites".
    Thanks Paul

    Hi Paul

No there haven’t been any requests to map these values. Would need two new delegates and implemented in desktop and web apps.

6.3 is imminent to ship and I don’t want to delay it as many people waiting for it.
