Thread: Calculated data is not calculated in live view

Calculated data is not calculated in live view

I've set up a grid with a virtual table (using VFP ODBC.) I set up a calculated field (balance = totalbudget-totalexpenses.) It works fine and calculate accurately in development view, but not so in app view, web view, tablet view, etc. There it gives me a zero.

ALSO, when trying to view it in Preview Web App -mode, I get the following:

Name: Lianja Server Failed to Respond.jpg
Views: 86
Size: 26.9 KB

As you can see, the "section 1" text also lands on top of the columns and the column headers don't line up correctly -- not a very polished look, that.

These problems I've run into during my first day of full blown Lianja development effort makes me a bit wary of the stability of this development system. I'm teetering between Lianja and Xamarin as my go-to cross-platform development right now.

Am I doing something wrong, or am I pushing Lianja too hard for my specific design goals?

    Hi Perti,

Look at the example web apps and verify that the server is running and they are working. You will see a wide range of examples of what can be accomplished with Lianja.

No you are not pushing Lianja too hard you are just not yet familiar with it as you state yourself you have just started using it so give yourself a chance to become more familiar.

You need to make sure you have deployed your database containing your virtual table definitions.

Calculated columns are not yet available in the web/mobile grids.

Are you hiding the section header? If you look at the examples you will note that this works as expected so sonething else is causing this.

There are many different ways to accomplish the same thing in Lianja. The blogs, forums and wiki are all searchable.

With regards to the line chart I will look into it when I'm on my computer not my tablet.

The forums are monitored during office hours so if you post at nighttime Europe or USA you may need to wait fir a response.

Thanks, Barry. I look forward to your answer to the line chart question.

I'm hiding a few columns, not just headers (as far as I can tell.)

I'm testing web app view on my development machine.

Do you think you guys will implement calculated columns for we/mobile grids at some point? Would you recommend writing some VFP code to achieve the same result in all display formats? If so, where (what delegate) would I write it and how would I display the results in a grid?

And yes, I'm a newbie (yet once again, but such is life) and I won't give up very easily. Heck, I even figured out how to write applications with AlphaAnywhere although all of their up-to-date documentation was in video format which, as we know, is impossible to search. Which renders it rather useless when you have a specific question about a technique or an approach...

I'm based in California, so I'm more or less in Lianja time zone.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Perti,

Yes we are enhancing the web/mobile in each release.

There was such a huge amount of functionality put into Lianja desktop web and mobile are a bit behind that functionality but moving forward.

Lianja is under continual development so things will just get better and better this year.
