I have created two roles with which I want to be able to open a specific app from the App Center. I want only the people assigned with this role to be able to view and use the app icon. For all other roles and those without roles assigned, I would like the app not to show in their app center. I tried adding the two roles I created to the read portion of permissions and roles section of the app, thinking this would do it. What am I missing?

If I assign any Read roles, I can hide the entire App from any user who doesn't have that role.

Before testing the Page roles in the Lianja App Center on my development machine, I need to 'Publish' the roledemo App and 'Deploy' the users tables and the roledemo App.

Now, if you save the App - deploy if you want to test in the Lianja App Center - and Login as Ricky from Reception, who does not have the sales or hr role, the roledemo App tile is not displayed.

That is what I thought, but for some reason it is not working. Anyone who logs in and still see the app. I have my app set to released and published and everything else appears to be working.

I suppose you deployed "system" along with your database, right?

Yes. That is what is most puzzling. I even tried changing logins in the app builder and the icon still shows up. It is a bit puzzling. I included a screen capture of my user setting to see if anyone sees something that might be causing the problem.

I quick tested and got the same result: the user without any role set see the app icon in App Center as any other user logged.

Submit the ticket.
Something was broken in code because I know it worked before, when I played with it.

So for now should I assign a general role to everyone who is blank?

Move on and do other stuff - come back to users/roles when they solve it.
