Background service scripts run with no UI. They are primarily used to perform data collection tasks or "batch job" tasks such as checking and emailing out "notifications" to Lianja users.
On windows, background jobs are messy and awkward to setup. To overcome this, Lianja SQL Server Manager has a "Background Scripts" tab which controls the starting, stopping and monitoring of background scripts. It runs these scripts concurrently.
