Data dictionary questions

1. Picture:

How is the Picture in the Data dictionary used?
I have entered 999,999,999,999.99 for a field Picture.

I don't see where this used in a form or a grid.

2. Data dictionary and grid column:
Is the Data dictionary not used by a grid?

3. Modifying Data dictionary field caption:
This generates a problem on my PC (but not always)...

You need to inherit dictionary rules in the section attributes.

It will not inherit the modified caption. Once you have it on most occasions you want to edit it. There has been a big internal discussion about this and thats the way it works.

Inherit - is it available in a grid? I don't see it.

Picture does nothing anywhere, right?

Yes it appears the dictionary rules are only inherited by "Form" and "Canvas" sections.

Just to clarify. I mean the dictionary rule for the picture. The other business rules are handled by the database engine e.g. validation etc.

Although this is now fixed in a grid, in a form or canvas with Input mask one cannot enter a decimal point.

Also, as far as I can see Inherit is not available in a grid.
