    In client/server computing, the client handles the UI. The server handles business and data access logic.

    You can't run UI commands on the server.

    Just return a test value like

    proc myProc
    return "hello world"

    Lianja.evaluate("myProc()")

    Hi Schlingmeier,

    Here is a video I made about 5 years ago showing you how you can build a simple web page using VFP code in Lianja.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FhVyBtcWjM

    I have built all kinds of crazy applications with Lianja. There are multiple way to build the same thing all from within Lianja. You can simply call prg's from the browser, you can created RSP pages and you can also create JSSP pages.

    It really depends on where your strengths are.

    At one of the hedge funds I use to work at, I replaced all the PHP calls with RSP pages for our mobile apps. So with Lianja, you are never boxed in.

    I personally like to build everything in custom pages, but the options you have are quite impressive.

    Hi Olaf,

    Herb's way of building that page is out of the ordinary, meeting the needs he had in the particular situation.

    The usual, and much easier, way of building a web app is to build it right in the Lianja UI. Backend code can be easily referenced in the JavaScript UI events. Data handling is automatic. It's actually unbelievable how little has to e done to make a web page in Lianja. With the addition of components, and with the ability to hit a web app without going through the Cloud App Center, it's also hard to make the case for building a web page standing alone. There are cases, no doubt, but the case would have to made in detail.

    Hank is right - everything I do is kinda out of the ordinary

    In truth, that is where the real strength of Lianja is. It is in the ability to use no-code all the up to handling every line yourself.
    I use a mix, but really like coding everything myself.
    It's a personal preference.

I want to use lianja interface to my .scx with prg code inside command button, is this possible to run in the html front-end script menu using the https:// command in the url. if so can you give some example how .scx to be run in the url gui. or how to convert SCX into html code usig lianja interface. Hi Gacesor,

    The short answer is no, that's not how Lianja works.

    Lianja can import your forms, and your forms and prgs can be massaged to work in Lianja.

    I suggest you take some of the sample apps and rewrite them using your data, so that you get an understanding-by-doing of how Lianja works. Most of us learn by doing better than we learn from descriptions.

    Lianja is an elegant, powerful solution for developing and deploying data-oriented applications to desktop, web and mobile. You will have to learn how to use Lianja to get the benefits of using it. The hands-on learning I suggested above would be a good start on what you need to learn.

    Good luck,

    Hank

    Hi Hank,

    Do you mean Lianja has own html codes different syntax from activeVFP,VFP2IIS or other Xbase programming languages?

    and the codes/program developed was only run on his own interface doesnt need to be compiled in .exe file to run in the dsktop or ie.

    Hi gacesor,

    VFP does not have HMTL in it's UI, nor do any of the xBase programming languages.

    Lianja makes it possible to create UI's that use HTML, Bootstrap, and jQuery without having to directly write anything in HTML or JavaScript.
