    Cloud Client: Restricted to CloudDB?

Will the Cloud Client (announced as coming in Beta3) be restricted to the CloudDB? If not, will the API be published? And if not, what will the licensing be? The reason I ask: there are at least some Enterprises that are fine with Oracle or SQL Server or DB2, but not with anything else. I'm not defending their decisions, and in fact most do not care, just trying to see what we would have to deal with as we go down this path.

The CloudDB is a prerequisite for the Lianja Web Client. The internal API will not be published. It operates in two modes at the same time. Firstly handling the Lianja Web Client and secondly as an OData compatible RESTful API. So that is the public API. We plan support for other databases in the final release. Also it is unlikely that the Web Client will make it into beta3 as we are expecting to ship that within a month or so to include the "Custom component builder".

The Lianja Cloud is different from the Lianja SQL Server. It handles all data access and will be configurable to use many different data sources, similar to the way you use CONNSTR but using a datasource translator that translates the CONNSTR in your App to a real data source. This allows the Lanja Cloud to be load balanced across many servers and the database server to be running on another server for scalability.
