How to get Lianja to respond again without that trilogy of keys (CTRL-ALT-DEL)?

    Hello Forum,

When windows tells me that Lianja is not responding, the CPUs are idle and there is no network activity, debug.txt shows me that due to a typo I made, a seek has been issued on a non existing table, I resort to ending the process in the task manager.

Starting Lianja with --reset in the command line, generally allows me to continue. But occasionally Lianja does not come up properly.

In that case, I replace the complete Lianja directory on my Cdrive with my latest backup, which if I am lucky only loses me a days work.

If all else fails, I submit a ticket and the problem is solved.

Can anyone please show me a better way to get things working again?

    Thanks,

    Ernst

If that ever occurs you need to try and identify the steps to reproduce that behavior and submit a ticket so it can be investigated and fixed,

I do not see why you need to restore from a backup as Lianja has built in file versioning. Look in the "Versions" workspace and you will see that you can recover and modified file from any point in time.

Lianja hangs very often, and do not know because we activate the debug but often does not show anything, it's a waste of time and check restart because it was closed.

Well It never hangs for me at all and I am using it every day. So rather than me try and guess what you are doing you need to provide a reproducible sequence that causes that to happen.

Lianja is an IDE with an embedded database and it supports several scripting languages, so you need to provide some better information as to how to reproduce this behavior. "Lianja hangs very often" is not helpful for us to better assist you. In fact its more of a statement rather than a question. The forum are for questions. The ticketing system is for bug reports.

And if you are able to pin-point the issue please submit a ticket and tell us what you are doing, what language you are using, whether its a desktop, web or mobile app and any other useful information.

    Hi Barry,

I have been trying to learn Lianja and have managed to get Lianja to hang and crash, quite a number of times.

In all cases with only myself to blame.

Stupid typo's, stupid thinking, stupid implementation of thoughts, etc etc. No one to blame but myself and I am not complaining.

Are you saying that I should submit a ticket for every time, I manage to get Lianja to crash or hang and I can reproduce the situation, however silly of me?

Yes you should submit a ticket with a step by step explanation of what you do to cause that to occur. That's the only way it will be fixed.
