    v1.3 status update

We are getting very close to releasing v1.3 now. I anticipate we will release it next tuesday or wednesday.

This is a major new release with lots of new features and functionality as well as full support for Virtual Tables in the Web/Mobile clients.

I have added a new example_mobileapp1 which you can run as a web app and it demonstrates responsive UI layout for Mobile devices.

As you click the section menu it switches pages and animates the page transitions. The whole UI has been built for Mobile.

Also note that in v1.3 any grid section filters that have {...} macros in them, these are expanded at the time of refreshing the grid. This basically means that the filter itself is dynamically evaluated at the time the grid is refreshed. This works in all views; desktop, web and mobile.

I have also fixed various tickets and tidied up a few of the example apps.

I have done most of the groundwork for v1.4 which I expect to make available one month after the v1.3 release.

v1.4 will be fully integrated with the Adobe PhoneGap Build service and is quite unique in that you can connect your iPhone/iPad/Android devices into the same wifi network as you are developing on, and as you visually develop your Mobile app in the App Builder it changes dynamically on the phone/tablet and lets you navigate the App on the mobile device while keeping the development IDE in sync with what you are doing.

This is going to be our most exciting release yet and my goal is to give you the ability to build, test and deploy a mobile app in less than a day with the additional ability to submit the App to Google Play and/or the Apple App Store.

This will be a major milestone for Lianja as we move to complete all development in the v1.x roadmap over the next few months.

    HI Barry

Thanks for the coming ver 1.4 to make mobile app development easy!

If I want to build for both phone and tablet, should I use one project or two projects as both app will share common server programs

Would the vast difference in screen size between phone and tablet make it necessary to build two sets of UI pages?

    Your advice is much appreciated

    Thanks & Best Regards

    Hi Tek Hong

One project will handle both phone and tablet.

You can include/exclude various pages, sections, fields and gadgets based on the device in the UI personality attributes.

Additionally, the new MobileGrid (and some other mobile specific components) will be used in place of the existing web components when they are rendered on a tablet or phone.

That's unlikely as we have offices in 3 continents

    Hi,

Looking at the mobile app, I like how the page animation looks.

I see there is an application attribute called "Enable Animations"

I would like to animate a slide (left or right depending on the current page), is there a way I can do that at this point?

    Thanks.

    Herb

    Hi Herb,

Look in the page attributes. There are a wide range of transitions that you set for individual pages.
