Hi

When I try to install Lianja on Linux Mint 12 it always says it is an unknown file type and wants me to specify the application to use to open it. If I check the properties the "Allow executing file as program" is set to true. Any suggestions on how to get this to work. Link Mint is based on Ubuntu.

Thanks,
Simon

The easiest thing to do (which should work on all Linux distributions) is execute the installer at the shell prompt. Change to the directory that contains the file and use sudo to run the file, for example:

$ sudo ./lianja-1.0.0-beta9R3-linux-x86_32_installer.bin

Thank you for the information, we will have to look into this.

We have tested this with default installations of both 32 bit and 64 bit Mint 12 and were not able to reproduce the problem you described. Is it possible that the download of the Lianja file was corrupted or incomplete? Could you try downloading Lianja again and let us know if that resolves the problem. Thanks!

Please make sure you have changed the file permissions to be executable with chmod +x as stated on the downloads page.

Yes I did change the permissions with chmod. I will try and download the installation again and see what happens.

I tried again on LinuxMint 10 and I again cannot install the software. I am new to Linux so it maybe a newbie error. I have attached a screen shot of the terminal screen.

Unfortunately the screen shot is too small to read. Could you run the "file" command against the Lianja download and tell us what it returns (IE: $ file lianja-1.0.0-beta9R3-linux-x86_32_installer.bin). What desktop are you running - Gnome, KDE, something else? Are you running 64 bit Mint, or 32 bit? Did you do the Mint installation yourself? What type of installation did you do? Thanks

Hi

I found my problem. When I tried the install on LinuxMint 12 I was using the 64bit version which was correct but it turns out my LinuxMint 10 was 32bit. Once I used the 32bit version I was able to install the software without any problem. I do not know why it did not work on LinuxMint 12 but perhaps the download was corrupt, in any case I now have Lianja installed on LinuxMint 10.

We will test install on the Linux mint 12, and certify it. Good you have it running now.
