Users Guide
This guide provides an introduction to using Lianja Apps. The target audience is for beginners who want to gain an end-user understanding of Lianja Apps. If you are interested in learning how to design and develop Apps using the Lianja App Builder, please see the Getting Started guide.

The Lianja App Center
The Lianja App Center is where you access all your Apps whether you are running from the desktop, browser or mobile device.
You will be prompted to login.
Apps
Apps are developed in the Lianja App Builder, then published and deployed to the Lianja App Center.
Once you have logged into the Lianja App Center you will have one-click access to all your Apps.
Here I have all deployed all the demo Apps to the Lianja App Center. Just click on an App's tile to open the App.
Running an App
Clicking on the Lianja Demo App's tile opens the App on the Customer Order Information Page. Apps are made up of Pages. The Page in turn is made up of the following, depending on its design:
- Sections - here we can see three data Sections with information on the Customer, their Orders and Order Details.
- Header - for a description of the Header buttons, please see below.
- Left Sidebar - here you can Logout, return to the App Center, go directly to Favorite, Recently Viewed or Recently Modified records and activate an Instant Selection (more on Instant Selections below).
- Right Sidebar - here you can view additional data from web sources.
- Actionbar - here you navigate the records and add, delete and edit records.
Page Actionbar Buttons
The App's designer can choose whether the Page Actionbar is displayed or not. You may instead see smaller versions of these buttons in the section header.

Page Header Buttons
The App's designer can choose which buttons are displayed in the Page Header, so you may not see all of the below in the Apps you use.

Start typing in the Instant Search box to search for matching records. Click the cross to reset the search and show all records. The search will be applied to the field on the form with the search icon displayed. If no field has the search icon and user-selectable searching has been enabled, you can click on the label of any searchable field to make it the active search field. |
Notifications
While you are running an App you can receive Notifications of interest to you: a new order placed, a new invitation to a meeting, a newly reached target.
When the red plus shows on the Page Header Notifications button, click it to display your Notifications.
Instant Search
The Customer Company Name field is set as the Search Field for the Customer Order Information Page - you can see the magnifying glass icon next to its label.
When you start typing in the Instant Search box - no need to worry about upper/lower case - the Page will navigate to the first record that matches the search.
Here it moves to the first Company Name beginning with 'b' then the first beginning with 'bo'.
The Page Actionbar is updated to reflect the number of records that match the search - in this case 3. If no records match the search a message will be displayed to this effect.
To cancel the search and return to all records, just click the x in the Instant Search box.
Tip: If an arrow head is displayed at the start of a Section header you can expand or collapse that Section by clicking on its header. In the Customer Order Information Page the first two Sections - Customers and Orders - can be expanded or collapsed.
Instant Selections
The App's designer can set up Instant Selections - displayed at the bottom of the Left Sidebar - to instantly restrict the records shown.
In this case the Instant Selection restricts the records to those containing the word 'France'.
To activate an Instant Selection, click on the link in the Left Sidebar. The number of matching records is shown in brackets.
When an Instant Selection is active, its name and record count are shown at the top of the Section and the Page Actionbar is tied to the matching records only.
To return to all records, click the All link under the Instant Selections heading in the Left Sidebar.
Tip: Click on the star next to any of the Recently Viewed or Recently Modified Company Names in the Left Sidebar to mark them as Favorites - the star will turn yellow. They will then be listed under the Favorites heading and automatically added to the 'Starred' Instant Selection.
So far we've just seen the Customer Order Information Page, but the Lianja Demo includes other Pages.
Pages can either be listed in the Left Sidebar or accessed from the Navigation Panel. To load another Page, just click on the Page name.
Here the Employee Information Page has been loaded via the Navigation button.
As well as clicking on the familiar buttons in the Page Actionbar, record navigation on the Employee Information Page can also be carried out using the Image Strip controls. The Image Strip is the Section at the top of the Page containing multiple Employee photographs. To move between records, simply click on a photograph or click and drag the slider bar.
Editing a Record
To modify the data, use the Page Actionbar Edit button to go into Edit mode. Use the Save changes button (or the Done button if displayed in the section header as it is here) to save the data and exit the Edit or the Undo changes button (or the Cancel button if displayed) to exit the Edit without saving.
Tip: You can also go into Edit mode on an individual data field - just click on the data or on the hand icon that appears when your mouse hovers over the field. The tick will save the data change and exit Edit mode, the cross will exit Edit mode without saving.
Expanding and Collapsing Sections
As mentioned above, the Customer Order Information Page has two sections that can be expanded or collapsed and this is signified by the arrow head in their Section headers. The Employee Information Page behaves differently. This Page uses an Accordion layout, which is particularly useful on smaller screens. With an Accordion, clicking on the header of a collapsed Section expands that section and collapses the other Sections in the Accordion.
Attachments for Document Storage
The Employee Information Page also demonstrates the use of an Attachments section for document storage.
Click on the link to open the document with its associated application or plugin - in this case the document is a PDF.
If you have access to the Lianja Demo App you will be able to explore its other Pages - remember, just click on the Page name in the Navigation Panel. To return to the Lianja App Center to access all your Apps, use the Home button in the Left Sidebar or the Goto the App Center button in the Page header.
