Logging into App Builder & App Centre

    Hello,

I have a few questions about user accounts.

    1. When loading App Builder, it logs me in automatically with my ?computer? name. Does it default to the computer name as a user?

    2. I know that the default login is 'admin', 'admin', however since the system logs me in, do I have a password? For example, if I log out, how do I log back in using my name (closing and re-opening the builder currently does this)?

    3. If you create a user, how do you use it when logging into the App Centre? After trying, all I get is 'Incorrect username or password".

    1. When you run the Lianja App Builder you are automatically logged in as an admin. Yes it defaults to your currently logged in username as "admin". Its the development product for building your apps.

    2. If you logout and you login as "admin" which has a default password of 'admin'.

    3. You have to deploy the "system" tables so you sync your users with your runtime. You can then login (using any username/password that you have synced) the app center which is for your end-users to run your apps.

These usernames affect roles and permissions when a user logs in. What apps they see, what pages, sections and fields they can see and perform CRUD (Create, Read. Update, Delete) operations on.

    Hi Barry,
Thank you for the response, although it still leaves me with some questions.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Let me try again.
If I log out, logging in as 'admin' sets the user name to 'admin'. How do I log back in so that the user currently logged into the system displays as the user name, not admin (as per my question #1)?

Since I am getting 'Incorrect username or password', how do I deploy the system tables to have the users synced in the development environment for the App Centre so that I can test user roles and permissions for the apps I have created?

    Thank you,
    Cory

    Hi Cory,

When you start the App Builder it will automatically log you in with your OS username. If you want to be able to log in and out with that name, just set it up as a user in the Users workspace with empty or * roles, i.e. admin roles.

To Deploy the system tables, go into the Deploy Workspace (no App open), check the box next to the system database and Preview Changes and Commit Changes.

    Hi Yvonne,

Thank you for the description and screenshot.
After committing the changes for the system files, I am now able to have a user log into the app centre.

    Thanks,
    Cory

    Hi Cory,

    That's good to hear!

I've added a section on Deploying Users to the Understanding Lianja Roles and Permissions guide as it wasn't clear that you needed to do this.

    Thanks,

    Yvonne

I think that additional section will also be helpful to readers.

    Thank you Yvonne.

    Another question:
Logging into the app centre, the user sees all demo and example applications.
Is there a way to avoid this so that the user only sees the applications associated with their permissions?

    Thanks,
    Cory

The RC8 distro does not include these in the App Center, you have to "Deploy" them if you want them. You may have them left over from previous beta installs.
