Thanks for the reference links, Josip. I will take some time and look through them.
In my view, websockets have a few advantages over TCP sockets in a chat app. The biggest is receiving communication in complete frames, where as normal TCP sockets don't. Also, they use port 80 / 443, so firewall issues are less likely.
It seems like it would be a fairly easy example app to write using Lianja. It would be great to have an example of this in a future release of the sample apps.
