How to get the language set for my web app in my program

In the top right Browser corner of my web app I can set the language my website.
However, I receive not translated my own (few) texts. But I need it in more then 10 languages.
Therefore I want to do this with case statements.
(The procedure with the translations database: I would have to create a table for each language. This effort seems to big)

If I have set a certain language in the upper right corner of the browser, Lianja texts like "Previous Record" and "Edit Record" also appear in this language.
But my texts, for example in labels or captions, are not translated. I have to take care of that myself. To do this, I need to know which language is set in the browser. How can I determine that? That was my question.
